Want to know about Albert Maltings?

Our Alken brewery is the home of our Cristalleke, the pride and joy of Limburg and far beyond. In 1928, the first Belgian lager was born in this particular brewery. Don’t worry, there’s no wear and tear on our formula. Thanks to tradition, craftsmanship and state-of-the-art technology, many other pilsners and speciality beers are brewed here for the national and international market. More than 200 colleagues help brew our beer that is worth remembering, hectolitre by hectolitre. Afterwards, you more than deserve a fresh pint.

About Alken

Our brewery in Alken is known for its multi-capability and flexibility. A jovial, Limburg all-rounder in fact. There is always life in the brewery here, because there is no stopping here. Weighing, weighing, tasting and improving is done here 24/7. Besides our classic brands Cristal, Maes, Grimbergen and Affligem, we also brew Desperados and Lagunitas here, our exotic twins. Where to go with all those hectolitres of beer? Bruges or Brazil, take your pick!

Small or big party?

25cl or 30cl bottles, 50cl cans or a 50-litre keg? We provide the approriate volumes and packaging. At Alken Brewery, our premium brews come in different containers and are delivered to retail and hospitality outlets in and outside of Belgium.

A cheerful jack-of-all-trades, that’s how we like to describe our brewery. Of course, we should like to add that our Jack is a perfectionist. From its most raw form to your glass, our beers have to meet the highest quality standards. Compromising on quality is the only thing that is out of the question at Alken-Maes.

Our secret ingredient?

Our people, undoubtfully. More than 200 highly dedicated employees give it their all every day. Operators, team leaders, master brewers, technicians, forklift drivers, lab workers and so on. Although they are part of a global group, everyone knows everyone—a warm family with a clear mission. Here, it’s no small beer.

Given we have an annual brewing volume of 1.8 million hectolitres and an annual packaging volume of 1.3 million hectolitres, we are a strong player in the market.

We don’t reduce our people to numbers. However, we do know everything about zeros and ones. Digitalisation has been the norm here for years. Apps to perform quality measurements, report faults digitally or monitor our machines to the millisecond: we do it all. Our entire site is self-sufficient when it comes to electricity.

Thanks to our solar panels and wind turbine, our brewery runs entirely on green electricity. We are also working hard to be fully carbon-neutral by 2026. We got this!

Bruno, Joycel and Jill about working at Alken-Maes

Bruno, Meesterbrouwer Mort-Subite

What we achieve here in the Pajottenland is unique in the world. You can take that literally because nowhere else does the required spontaneous fermentation occur for our Lambic beer (the basis of all Mort-Subite beers). A neat trick of Mother Nature. The fact that I get to work with one of nature’s wonders in my own region is a gift that has kept on giving for over 30 years.

Jill, Packaging & TPM Manager

I am incredibly proud of our beers, but even more so of our people. They are undoubtedly our secret ingredient.

3. Good vibe? Then we present your application to your future manager.

6. Did everything go smoothly? Then a contract offer might follow!
