Our supply chain is the beating heart of Alken-Maes, distributed across four locations. Our forward-thinking malt makers at Albert Maltings in Puurs, our master brewers at Alken Brewery, our fruity lambic blenders at Mort Subite in Kobbegem and our sparkling cider makers who seamlessly blend tradition with innovation at Cidrerie Stassen.
What we achieve here in the Pajottenland is unique in the world. You can take that literally because nowhere else does the required spontaneous fermentation occur for our Lambic beer (the basis of all Mort-Subite beers). A neat trick of Mother Nature. The fact that I get to work with one of nature’s wonders in my own region is a gift that has kept on giving for over 30 years.
I am incredibly proud of our beers, but even more so of our people. They are undoubtedly our secret ingredient.

Why 2030 when 2026 is feasible? That’s right. At Alken-Maes, we go the extra mile. Sustainability is a challenge we like to get our teeth into.
That’s how many beers we brew in our Alken brewery annually! And those are not just Cristallekes, our pride and joy from Limburg. No, here we brew other great beers such as Maes, Hapkin, Grimbergen, Affligem, Desperados, etc. Or how about Lagunitas, a top-of-the-line IPA? Our Alken brewery can do it all.
That’s the number of new products the Stassen Research & Development team comes up with yearly, for national and international use! Impressive, right? Strongbow with watermelon-infused green tea on a bed of rocket? Hmm … maybe we should leave recipe creation to the Stassen team.
45 tonnes, that’s the annual weight of cherries we process in our deliciously fruity Mort-Subite, brewed by master brewer Bruno & the Kobbegem team.
